Germany – popular MICE destination

The MICE market in Germany is growing unabated. The market for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions in Germany grew by 2.8 percent in 2018, to a total of around 405 million participants. Despite the significant growth, Germany is still considered an undiscovered gem by many foreign MICE planners. The fascinating differences between individual regions, the 1,000-year history, the romantic locations … but also the open and tolerant party and nightlife make Germany an interesting alternative to the Mediterranean MICE destinations.
The reasons for the above-average growth of the German MICE sector are the surprisingly good price-performance ratio, the large selection of high-quality congress and conference hotels and the innovative power of German event and conference service providers. They are leaders in the areas of digitization and virtualization as well as sustainability and green meetings.
The federal capital Berlin alone has almost half a million square meters of event space. The four-star-plus Estrel Hotel in Berlin is also one of the top conference hotels. It is Germany’s largest hotel and has space for 12,000 visitors with its Estrel Congress Center. The luxury hotel on the banks of the Spree, opposite the cathedral on Museum Island, has 427 rooms, 2,750 m² of event space on 3 floors with 15 multifunctional conference rooms. The huge saltwater aquarium in the hotel lobby is spectacular. It is also the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world.
